Is Not Gold is a series that explores the fragile balance between the pursuit of beauty and the ethical awareness required to sustain it. It reflects on our privilege to live well—surrounded by art, comfort, and material richness—while challenging us to remain mindful of the origins of these luxuries. The work calls for an intentional rejection of systems that enable child labor and illicit exploitation, urging us to assign value not only to the object but also to the integrity of how it came to be. Beauty, it suggests, is not truly golden unless it is justly earned.
Though the subject is somber, it demands contemplation. To live well in a meaningful sense requires a thoughtful reckoning with the human cost behind what we acquire—and a commitment to place true value where it belongs.
